Minute examination under magnifying glass and raking light revealing simple and functional morphology characteristic of ancient Punic productions. The structure remains stable and perfectly legible despite the reduced scale.

Flan and edge

Circular body with low profile adapted for oil combustion, made by modeling/turning and firing. Surface presenting homogeneous archaeological patina with slight firing irregularities.

Characteristics

Dimensions: 17 mm (height) × 94 mm (diameter). Material: ceramic. Good state of conservation with ancient micro-wear and coherent traces of use. No modern restoration detected.

Between the 7th and 5th centuries BC, Phoenician then Carthaginian networks structured the western Mediterranean. These lamps met daily lighting needs while occupying a notable place in religious practices, associated with sanctuaries and offerings dedicated to Tanit and Baal Hammon.
